Microfinance Impact Survey: A call to rebalance industry priorities?

Read this recently published paper on the need of the microfinance industry to increase efforts to achieve the social promise of microfinance – improving the lives of clients. This paper supports SPTF's position in "What matters gets measured" and the work of the SPTF Outcomes Working Group. This working group was launched in 2014 to help develop clear, credible, practical guidelines and common indicators to measure and report on outcomes. Find out more details about the Outcome Working Group.

Universal Standards Implementation Survey Report

In 2015, the SPTF conducted the third annual Universal Standards Implementation Survey in partnership with the MIX, the Global Appeal for Responsible Microfinance, and the Microcredit Summit Campaign. The survey helps measure progress in the implementation and state of practice of the Universal Standards in the inclusive finance sector.

The results show a continued increase in the awareness and implementation of the Universal Standards across stakeholder groups. More than 90% of all respondents mentioned being “very familiar, familiar, or aware” of the Universal Standards, and 82% found the Universal Standards to be “very helpful” or “helpful” to their institutions. Nearly 75% of FSPs noted the Universal Standards influenced the implementation of SPM practices, and 47% mentioned having changed practices in their organization after learning about the Universal Standards.
